We have sixteen words in Word/Play today. They all deal with Writing. "Script" or "scrib" are root words that mean "to write". Script has four meanings all to itself. For example, any document, a writing style such as a font, handwriting, and any writing (Hanji is Chinese script, for example.) Scribe is used in a similar way. It means "to write" as well. What are the sixteen words? Word/Play deals with words related to breathing. For example, inspire, perspire, and conspire. All have breathing in them - the root 'spire' means breathing. 'In' means in, 'per' means through, and 'con' means with. The Trilingual Lesson deals with asking when someone's birthday is. The closest English has to 先生 is 'Sir' although it is rarely used these days. In Japanese 先生 means 'teacher' but here it means an older person. We learn the following: Xiānsheng, nín shì nǎ nián chūshēng de? Sir, in what year were you born? I was born in 1976. When is your birthday? It's March 5th. We interview a law professor about international laws, contracts, trademarks, and copyrights and then, in our Trilingual Language Lesson, learn how to say legal words in Japanese, English, and Chinese.
